Be The Best You Can Be

House Captains

The House and Vice Captains have been elected by their peers to head the different houses in the school.

When children start at Galliard they are allocated a house. Each house is represented by a different colour and on PE days children wear a PE top in the colour of their house.

House and Vice Captains take a lead during sporting events and each week the house with the most house points receives the cup.

This year our House and Vice Captains are helping us develop pupil voice across the school. They are raising issues and offering ideas on behalf of all the pupils. They are committed to improving the school experience for everyone.

📝 The meeting of the House and Vice Captains

Our House and Vice Captains met with Mrs Clifford to discuss the pupil survey recently undertaken. Each issue was discussed and further added before a plan of action was put together. Bedford will be following up on concerns raised by pupils regarding the toilets and will met with Mr Morris the Site Manager to help resolve some of these. York will be looking into how playtimes and lunchtimes in the playground can be improved and will meet with Mrs Benjamin to discuss the purchase of some equipment. Grosvenor will speak with Mrs Anthanasi about how lessons and classroom equipment can be improved while Richmond will focus on improving life in the small hall at dinner time. They will meet with the lunchtime team and our kitchen staff. All in all, a productive meeting. All teams will be producing a Flipgrid video to share with staff and the children the outcomes of their meetings.

Meeting with the Kitchen Staff

Some of the House and Vice Captains from Richmond and York met with our lunchtime staff to discuss school dinners.  This was an opportunity for the Captains to share what the children of Galliard feel about the lunches that are provided, ask questions and gain a better understanding of the process involved in designing the menu and making the lunches. The children learned about portion size, calorie intake for children and all about menu choices.  This proved to be a very informative meeting and the captains will be sharing the outcomes from this meeting very soon!
