Galliard Rocks played Three Little Birds by Bob Marley, the Rock Legends played All Star by Smashmouth and Might and Rock played Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes.

Year 6 Pupils Visit Film Studio for Enfield Reading Project

On Wednesday 11th March, a group of Year 6 pupils took part in a special project run by NEXUS Education Schools Trust. The children visited a small film studio where they were recorded reading a book on camera for Enfield’s new Tripod the Bear Reading Channel.

This was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to promote the joy of reading and to take part in an exciting borough-wide initiative. The children read with great enthusiasm and confidence, and we are all looking forward to seeing the finished episodes when they are released.

During the visit, one of our pupils, Emmi, was also invited to interview Beatrix Simpson, who is leading the reading strategy in the London Borough of Enfield. Emmi asked some thoughtful and inspiring questions, and Beatrix spoke about the importance of reading and how it can open doors to new ideas, knowledge and imagination.

The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience and shared their reflections afterwards:

“I felt excited to read in front of the camera and be able to share the book with younger viewers.”
    Elias, 6LG

“It was fun but also nerve-wracking looking at the camera and talking. I’m looking forward to seeing how the programme turns out.”
    Amelie, 6B

“I remember when I was younger and I would watch others read stories on screen. It felt strange but good at the same time to do this myself and be in a film studio.”
    Emmi

“This was a really fun experience. I feel like there should be more opportunities like this for younger years.”
    Nikodem, 6LG

“I felt like a children’s TV presenter and enjoyed the whole experience.”
    Jannah

“I really enjoyed the experience. I felt nervous in front of the camera, but now I feel like I have really achieved something.”
    Leyla, 6K

We are incredibly proud of how confidently and enthusiastically our pupils represented the school. Experiences like this help bring reading to life and inspire younger children across Enfield to develop a love of books.

On Tuesday January 20th 2026, Galliard Year 5 and Choir did our school proud. We all travelled to the 02 Arena and took part in the Young Voices Concert 2026. We were among a choir of over 8000 children and the sound we made was incredible! Some of our favourite songs to perform were Power In Me, Sea Shanty Medley and the Disco Medley. We were also treated to amazing performances by the street dance group Urban Strides and were privileged to perform alongside singer songwriter Ruti who we backed up on the classic hit It Must Be Love.  All of our hard work learning all the songs was rewarded because this was such a special experience for us to take part in this beautiful concert!
