🌲 Forest School Experience AM Class 🌳

Caterpillar morning class have been very engaged in their Forest School activity today. They collected things from the natural world to bring back to class to explore more closely.

🌲 Forest School Experience PM Class 🌳

Caterpillar PM Class have enjoyed their first Forest School experience today.  The children have learned where base camp is, and how to return to it when they hear the whistle. They have had an opportunity to  explore the school grounds and to collect some natural resources.  Fun was had by all.

📚 Story Cafe 🥔

Caterpillar Class welcomed families in on Thursday to share their story of the week, Supertato. Children could come to school dressed as a superhero or their very own hero. There were activities to support the story, mashed potatoes and peas, printing using potatoes, making a supertato, superhero masks and stick puppets.

Fun was had by all, and we thank our families for sharing this day with us. We look forward to seeing you at our next story cafe.

🐌 Investigation Area 🔍

Caterpillar Class have created an investigation area. This enables children to look at a variety of resources giving them opportunities to communicate their observations and findings.  They can explore nonfiction books, look at similarities and differences and learn how to use all of their senses to explore.  We will be looking at growing food from seeds during the next few weeks.

📖 World Book Day Celebrations 🌍

Caterpillar Classes had an opportunity to make their own book today to take home.  We had three book stations for the children to settle at and share their chosen book.  Both classes have been enjoying Handa's Surprise this week and the Caterpillar Staff all dressed up as Handa and the children will now have an opportunity to taste the different fruits from the story.

🦖1,2,3 Do the Dinosaur🦕

Caterpillar Classes have really enjoyed sharing 1,2,3 Do the Dinosaur story, and even had a visit from a dinosaur! Every child received their own copy of the book to share at home with their families.  There were lots of opportunities across the week to explore a variety of dinoasaur themed activities which included printing using dinosaur shapes and footprints, using different media to create their own dinosaur pictures, observational drawings using our small world dinosaurs and some dancing along to the interactive story through song and dance.

Caterpillar Learning

It is so much fun playing in the water tray.  We enjoy filling and emptying containers and experimenting with all of the water toys.

There are lots of opportunities for mark-making in Caterpillar Class and I am already developing a really good pencil grip!

We love copying what we see our Mummies and Daddies doing at home.  We can cook and look after the baby!

Helicopter Stories

Helicopter stories is a child-led approach to story telling.  Children dictate their own stories and they are written down by an adult.  The children then gather around a taped out stage and the stories are acted out.  Below are some of the stories your children have created.

Caterpillar Class Story Time & Rhyme Time

Some of the Mummies joined us this week for rhyme time.

We are so proud of how well our 2 year olds have settled into Nursery life and wanted to share this.

The children engage enthusiastically in these sessions whilst being sensitively supported by the Nursery Practitioners.
