In Science we have been learning about different animal groups. We had a visit from Animal Encounters and we were given the opportunity to see amphibians, reptiles, insects and mammals. We were able to touch the animals and hold them which was really good fun! We really enjoyed the experience!
📖 World Book Day Celebrations 🌍
What a fantastic day, celebrating World Book Day! The children looked absolutely amazing in their costumes! We read lots of books throughout the day and the children carried out a book scavenger hunt. We also had the privilege of a Highway Man (Mrs Benjamin) who read ‘How to catch a star’ to 1D, Mrs Clifford who read to 1M and an alien who caught Mr Bascombe down the corridor and took him into 1R to read ‘The Pig in the Pond’……. with 3D effects! 💦💦
It was such an amazing day! Thank you Year 1s!
✖️ Year 1 Mathematicians 2️⃣
Year 1 have been learning to count in multiples of 2s. Children were given the task to group objects in pairs so that they understand that a pair is 2. Then count each group in 2s!
Gymnastics in PE 🤸♂️
The children really enjoyed trying to balance on low level apparatus during PE. They tried moving along in different ways using different body parts.
Some even tried some daring moves!
🗺 Geography 🗺
Our young geographers in action!
The children demonstrated amazing teamwork when piecing together the map of United Kingdom.
They then went on to explore an atlas and use their observational skills to locate the four countries of the United Kingdom and their capital cities. They were so fascinated to learn about the country we live in!
Read Write Inc. Workshops in Year 1
Thank you to all our Year 1 parents who were able to join us for our RWI phonics workshops.
In Year 1 the children are building on their knowledge of sound and are using this knowledge to support them in their early reading. Thank you to all the children who joined us in the hall to show the parents what a speed sound lesson looks like in the classroom.
You were amazing!
